"We must not allow any individuals to divide us as a nation and a community."

Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki responds to last night’s shooting in the Dallas community:

“Our prayers go out to our brothers and sisters. A peaceful demonstration, which was protected by the men and women in our law enforcement community, was violently attacked by those who have little regard for peaceful demonstration and those sworn to protect our rights. We must not allow any individuals to divide us as a nation and a community. It is only through our recognition of our common humanity and respect for the laws that govern us that we will be able to move forward as a people.

Our prayers go out to the families of our law enforcement officials who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and all those who were injured. We hold up their courage in defending the innocent in our society. Prayers for healing as a community and nation before our God, who calls us to be one family.”
