Vatican Announces Telecast Info for Christmas and World Day of Peace Ceremonies

The Pontifical Council for Social Communications has released information for broadcasters regarding worldwide telecasts of the events presided over by Pope Benedict XVI on Christmas and New Year’s Day. All times are UTC/GMT (Coordinated Universal Time/Greenwich Mean Time).

Monday, December 24, Christmas Eve, 22:00-24:00 hours, Midnight Mass, celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI in St. Peter’s Basilica.
Tuesday, December 25, Christmas Day, 12:00-12:30 hours, Christmas Message and Blessing “Urbi et Orbi” of Pope Benedict XVI from St. Peter’s Square.
Tuesday, January 1, 2013, Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, 09:30-11:15 hours, Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI in St. Peter’s Basilica on the occasion of the 46th World Day of Peace.

Television commentaries from the Vatican in English, Spanish and French will be offered on the satellite audio channels of Eurovision World Feed. Details concerning various satellites and frequencies will be posted on the Pontifical Council for Social Communications’ website, in addition to texts and background information for television producers and commentators. For those unable to receive the broadcasts through the above service providers, alternative satellite reception possibilities may be available.
