Prison Ministry

At present, prison ministry has two components: (1) visiting inmates and leading word and communion services in local correctional institutions; and (2) a semi-weekly pre-release support program at St. Francis of Assisi Parish for inmates in minimum security or work-release institutions and their families. The first component provides spiritual support and an opportunity for self-reflection for inmates facing prosecution and/or imprisonment and thus separation from their families, loss of employment, etc. The second component is focused on helping inmates develop the attitudes, skills and spiritual strength to be reintegrated into their families and the community and to lower the risk of re-offending.
