Hundreds of Catholics gathered for the Archdiocesan Synod, June 6-8, 2014 to determine the priorities for the next decade and beyond.

Hundreds of Catholics representing more than 200 parishes, schools and Catholic organizations throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee gathered the weekend of June 6-8 for “Synod 2014” to deliberate on and determine the priorities of the Catholic Church in southeastern Wisconsin for the next decade and beyond.

The Synod focused on prayer, presentations, discussion and formal approval of pastoral priorities for parishes and the archdiocese.

Intentional Discipleship: Our Fundamental Catholic Identity

This video is produced as part of the District Gatherings that will be held across the Archdiocese of Milwaukee this year in preparation for the Archdiocesan Synod, which will take place June 7-8, 2014. The content of this video was developed based on an introductory letter written by Bishop Donald Hying, which will be included in each of the eight Synod Background Papers that were written for these preparatory efforts. With intentional discipleship as the catalyst, small groups will discuss how we can strengthen the mission of the Church in each of these eight areas: Catholic Social Teaching, Cultural Diversity, Evangelization, Formation, Leadership, Liturgy, Marriage and Family and Stewardship. The hope of the Synod will be to re-energize Catholics in their faith and inspire a new evangelization within the Church of southeastern Wisconsin.

Stewardship: Recognizing, Sharing and Multiplying God's Gifts

is a video produced as a part of the Parish Reflection sessions that will be held across the Archdiocese this year in preparation for the Archdiocesan Synod, which will take place in June 2014. Each parish session includes three parts: Catholic Identity, Evangelization and Stewardship. This video will be the introduction for the Stewardship section and touches on the definition of Stewardship: God is infinitely good, the giver of all good gifts. Whatever He gives, we are assured by faith that the gift is meant to be put to good use, multiplied, and shared. St. Paul reminds us that, "To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ" (1 Corinthians 12:7, 12).
