We are celebrating our 200th Anniversary this year as we remember
our simple beginnings in Besançon, France on April 11, 1799, when Jeanne Antide Thouret began a
small school and a soup kitchen for the poor after the French Revolution broke out. We come from
the Vincentian tradition, as our foundress had been a Daughter of Charity herself. Presently, we
number over 4,000 Sisters on five continents and work in a variety of different outreach ministries
to the poor. Community life, prayer, Eucharist, and Paschal Mystery are key elements of our life. |
