The Wisconsin Catholic Conference, that is, the Catholic Bishops in the state, have established standards for personnel who serve as Catholic educators in the five dioceses of Wisconsin.
These standards apply to all who have responsibility for Catholic education - including parish catechists, Catholic school teachers, catechetical leaders and principals. By virtue of their ministry, these educators are role models for adults, youth, and children. Therefore, they are called to be well informed in Catholic teaching, dedicated to ongoing formation, and committed to a Catholic way of life and witness.
The 2023 Standards for Educators in Catholic Parishes and Schools are based on standards first published by the WCC in 1975, and that have developed through a periodic review process by the bishops and Catholic education leaders across the state of Wisconsin. The 2023 Standards can be downloaded below.
