St. Bruno St. Vincent de Paul Conference Kathy Hoffman, Chapter Secretary
The St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference based at St. Bruno Parish in Dousman offers help, hope, and encouragement to people in need, especially during this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic. They serve clients in Waukesha County, Jefferson County and Walworth County. This SVDP Conference received a $1,000 grant from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Coronavirus Emergency Fund.
“We serve those in need, letting them know that people care and that they are not alone, explains Kathy Hoffman, who serves as the Secretary of the St. Bruno SVDP.
Kathy described home visits as central to their efforts, but in light of COVID-19, they will adjust to offer services in a safe way. “We will conduct our visits over the phone at this time. This will enable us to find out their needs so we can provide assistance.” That help can include rent or energy assistance, gas cards, grocery store gift cards, referrals for employment and vouchers for furniture and clothing at the SVDP Waukesha Thrift Store.
Kathy expects the need for assistance to increase at this time and is grateful for the support from the Emergency Fund. “We’ll use our resources to help people in need. The grant is greatly appreciated,” she explained.
“God has bestowed many blessings on my family and me. I am very thankful. Especially during these difficult times, I am discovering that everything should not be taken for granted. St. Bruno SVDP is an opportunity to give back and help people who are struggling,” Kathy said.
