3rd Grade Teacher

TITLE:  Third Grade Teacher

 

REPORTS TO:  The Principal

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a certified College or University in Elementary Education or be working towards.

  2. Have appropriate certification from the State of Wisconsin or eligibility for such certification.

  3. Have additional coursework supportive of working with students with special educational needs.

  4. Satisfactorily complete required background criminal records check.

  5. Fulfill requirements for religious instruction/certification as established by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

  6. Maintain constant updating of academic and religious requirements as required by the Wisconsin DPI, the Archdiocese, and St. Francis Borgia School.  Such updates are to be discussed with and approved by the Principal.

  7. Complete Safe Environment Training prior to start date.

  8. All teachers are encouraged to pursue a Master’s Degree.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Display and practice the Christian values expected of Catholic educators.

  2. Model mature judgment and emotional stability.

  3. Present professionally in terms of attire, communication, and demeanor.

  4. Exhibit good organizational skills as a classroom teacher and staff member.

  5. Have knowledge of and demonstrate basic technology skills. (E-mail, Word, PowerPoint, Smart Boards, Google Docs, etc.)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Abide by the guidelines of the Faculty Handbook, Archdiocesan policies, and locally determined policies (School Committee and Parish Council). 

  2. Attend functions for the betterment of the school community.

  3. Perform recess and other duties as assigned by the Principal.

  4. Assure the inclusion and integration of explicit phonics instruction.

  5. Be knowledgeable of the newsletter, athletic and general school activities and calendar information.

  6. Be especially aware of your role as an Ambassador of St. Francis Borgia Catholic School.




 

WORK DAY:

 

  1. Arrive no later than 8:15 and leave no earlier than 3:40.

  2. Attend all Faculty, Staff, and other meetings as called by the Principal.

  3. Attend the Archdiocesan Convention.

  4. Attend all meetings and programs as designated by the Principal.

  5. Be present during all scheduled Parent/Teacher Conferences.


 

EVALUATION:  Teachers will be evaluated by the Principal every year, using the schedule for evaluations presented for the current year.  Evaluations will be based on the Job Description, Performance Goals, and other designated expectations.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION:

 

  1. Third Grade Teachers are responsible for facilitating Iowa Testing.

  2. Each teacher is required to conduct minimally one age-appropriate service project.
