Athletic Director

The Athletic Director is responsible for the coordination and management of SJCA’s elementary through high school athletic programs.  The Director should demonstrate integrity and accountability for his or her actions and those of the Department’s coaches and student athletes; commit to SJCA’s Catholic values and the role athletics can play in fulfilling those values; possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and express an enthusiasm in working with SJCA’s student athletes, families, staff, and supporters.  He or she must also fulfill other responsibilities in accordance with SJCA’s mission statement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the Athletic Department’s annual budget for all individual athletic programs.

  • Serve as the purchasing agent for athletic equipment and supplies; follow the replacement cycle timeline for athletic uniforms and equipment.

  • Approve all additional requisitions and purchases relating to the Athletic Department.

  • Prepare and and approve team schedules, coach and game official contracts, and tournament participation contracts.

  • Maintain, store, and inventory all athletic equipment and schedule required facility maintenance.

  • Coordinate and attend all home athletic games and events as the contest manager.

  • Serve as the liaison with SJCA’s Athletic Association and work closely with coaches in communicating with the Association.

  • Participate in professional development activities.

  • Monitor that coaches are providing appropriate supervision of their student athletes at all times.

  • Ensure that coaches utilize the best and most current training methods by supporting sport clinic attendance, professional association affiliation, and receiving trade publications.

  • Evaluate head coach performance through the use of appropriate rubrics as well as student feedback.

  • Model and encourage coaches to use positive, effective, and constructive communication with student athletes, families, and community members

  • Perform additional program duties as assigned by SJCA’s Principal



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of athletic coaching and/or other relevant experience
  • Experience in a school leadership and/or personnel management role preferred
  • Must pass criminal background check and attend a Safeguarding Circle of Grace session via the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, or proof of previous attendance
  • Must be able to drive/pass driver's license check
