Campus Minister

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Regular communication with school personnel in regards to campus ministry activities
  • Collaboration with administration and theology department in program development
  • Planning and supervision of both day-long and overnight retreats for students and staff
  • Organization of liturgical gatherings for students, staff, and families

 

RETREATS

The campus minister is responsible for:

  • Establishing retreat dates and locations
  • Being liaison between the school and retreat center hosts
  • Communication with faculty and student body about retreat events and details
  • Encouraging and mentoring student leadership on retreats
  • Consistent presence and lead responsibility during all retreats

LITURGIES

The campus minister is responsible for:

  • Supporting Chaplain in preparation for school-wide Masses
  • Coordinating prayer logistics including music, seating, programs, set-up, clean-up of prayer space
  • Coordinating student leadership and participation in all liturgical experiences
  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the sacristy and chapel
  • Selecting and training Eucharistic ministers

 

MISCELLANEOUS

The campus minister is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the school budget for ministry and retreat activities
  • Attending local and archdiocesan meetings for high school campus ministers
  • Organization of the campus ministry meeting space for students

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Able to adapt to change and react to events in a decisive manner
  • Possesses professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Takes initiative in problem solving independently and as a member of a team
  • Understands and makes use of school technology to enhance prayer and classroom experiences

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Practicing Catholic with an active sacramental and faith-life
  • Bachelor’s degree in youth ministry, pastoral ministry, theology, or religious studies (Master’s degree  
    preferred)
  • Prior experience working with youth in a high school, college, or parish setting
