Child & Youth Minister

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Actively evangelize and form young disciples of Jesus Christ through the planning, implementing, and evaluating of youth programs and activities that promote spiritual growth and establish a stronger awareness of faith life within the community and promote and grow faith-filled relationships between youth and families.

Coordinate service experiences and Mission Trip opportunities for Middle School and High School students. Coordinate retreats and other spiritual experiences for Middle School and High School students. Coordinate First Sacrament preparation for Day school & Christian Formation children.

DUTIES:

Coordinate the Youth Ministry Mission Trip program and attend planned mission trips as parish lead person. Encourage students to build the habit of Christian service into their lives.

Coordinate service opportunities and spiritual experiences for middle school and high school students.

Coordinate age appropriate opportunities for both learning, growth and fun throughout parish life through youth and family activities. Plan, direct and supervise social activities for the total parish youth community grades 6-12.

Be familiar with small group programs for youth and implement group programing along with prayer, adoration and social activities.

Be the advocate of the youth of the parish in relation to the parish staff, parish council and parish community. Be available for guidance and support for total parish and school students in grades 6-12.

Be a parish staff liaison between Christian Formation and the Day School.

Enhance knowledge of and experience in youth ministry through personal development programs and continuing formation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be an active, confirmed Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Completion of Safeguarding All God’s Children and background checks.
  • Catechetical teaching experience with at least one year of experience in working with youth at the junior/senior high school level (preferred).
  • Attended a traveling mission trip with youth (recommended but not required).
  • Working knowledge of Archdiocesan policies and guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
