St. Mary of the Hill, Hubertus, WI Child Ministry Leader

Major areas of Responsibility

  1. Participate and supervise Monday night Religious Education classes. 
  2. Create grades K – 5th curriculum for the Religious Education program.  
  3. Organize Breaking Open the Word (BOW) for Children: including projects, volunteers and Children’s room. 
  4. Publicize, promote inform and excite children, parents and parish about Child Ministry Programs. 
  5. Collaborate with Youth Minister to develop a yearly theme and schedule.
  6. Create Group children prayer activities to coordinate with the year’s theme for each week.
  7. Prepare and schedule 1st Communion and 1st Reconciliation Program to include parent/child classes, prayer experiences to culminate with the sacraments. 
  8. Create syllabus and all materials for Religious Education grades K-5, including separate syllabus needed for 1st Communion and Reconciliation. 
  9. Follow Archdiocesan requirements to create preparation classes for Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC) if needed.  Coordinate with the Youth Minister depending on the age and needs of the child. 
  10. Participate and supervise Monday Religious Education classes.    
  11. Schedule, plan, and organize reconciliation service at least twice a year for the youth and parish.
  12. Help recruit and train teachers and provide them with needed supplies and materials. Coordinate with the Youth Minister in these efforts.  
  13. Provide needed information to Communication Coordinator regarding registration, permission slips and other pertinent information.  
  14. Communicate with newly baptized families with love letters.    
  15. Perform all reasonable requests made by the Pastor.

Qualifications

  1. Active Catholic able to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church. 
  2. A degree in religious education, theology, scripture or liturgical studies with course work in same areas or equivalent life experience. 
  3. Hold or obtain Archdiocesan Basic certification within a year of hire. 
  4. All activities must be carried out in accordance with guidelines set out by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and Catholic Mutual, with special attention to those that assure compliance with Safeguarding All God’s Family program.   
  5. Work with 3 year olds through 5th grade to develop relationships with the students/parents and parish through frequent communication with the parish community, parents, youth and parish staff.      
  6. Ability to multitask and prioritize within contracted hours to complete duties.   
  7. Provide relevant information to Communication Coordinator to be used via the appropriate media outlet.   
  8. Work and communicate effectively with Staff, and parish to implement child and family centered activities including but not limited to: Trunk or Treat, Pizza with the Pastor, Christmas Eve Play and Summer Totus Tuus Program.
