Communications and Stewardship Coordinator

DUTIES

Under the general direction of the Director of Administrative Services, to be responsible for the following:

Communications

  • Serve as the brand steward for Good Shepherd, ensuring that all outgoing communication has a consistent voice and demonstrates judicious use of our communication channels.
  • Collaborate with parish leaders to develop communications strategies that will broaden the reach of parish messages and assure “end-user friendly” approaches to our communication efforts.
  • Develop and refine parish-wide “core” messages to ensure organizational consistency.
  • Collaborate with parish leaders to develop, implement, and evaluate a yearly master communications plan to guide large-scale parish communications.
  • Provide oversight and act as the primary producer and distributor for all key communications channels (including, but not limited to: weekly bulletin, website, monthly newsletter, direct mail, newcomer welcome packets, broadcast emails, robocalls, social media, step announcements, bulletin boards, worship space monitors and digital signage), facilitating the timely and effective use of these tools.
  • Solicit and coordinate content contributions from parish ministries and organizations.
  • Design of marketing materials (flyers, social media posts, articles, etc.) for events happening around the parish (speakers, classes, auctions, dinners, etc.).
  • Coordinate documentation of various parish activities in photo/video and coordinate media presence.
  • Coordinate efforts to advertise church activities, functions, liturgies and general information in the local community.
  • Mentor and lead team members responsible for parish website administration and coordination.
  • Track and measure the level of engagement produced by various communications over time.
  • Identify challenges and emerging issues in communication faced by the organization.
  • Work with parish leaders and those involved with communications to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

Stewardship

  • Serve as staff liaison to Stewardship Commission.
  • Coordinate with parish director, staff and commission chairperson for the two annual stewardship commitments of parish ministries and sacrificial giving.
  • Work with Director of Administrative Services and Stewardship Commission in coordinating Sacrificial Giving material.
  • Monitor the preparation of Time and Talent appeals, data maintenance, dissemination of information to appropriate people and prompt follow-through of offers to serve in various ministries.
  • Direct welcoming of new parishioners with registration, follow-up procedures, public acknowledgement in publications or otherwise and support hosting welcome receptions, as necessary.
  • Oversee timely data entry and maintenance in the parish database to ensure accurate records for engagement and communication.
  • Plan and coordinate the Celebration of Ministries event.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Public or Media Relations desired.
  • Experience in a media and/or communications related field preferred.
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication abilities, including excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Command of the English language, its usage, and spelling, with strong editing skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, database management, social media tools, bulk email software, and website content management.
  • Experience with SalesForce preferred.
  • Graphic design skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud or other graphic design software desired.
  • Ability to use digital/video equipment.
  • Good understanding of the stewardship of time and talent.
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
  • Maturity and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
  • Self-starter, sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, able to work independently, deadline oriented, enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
  • Flexibility in work schedule and work styles given the nature of a family-centric parish.
