Development Director

Responsibilities

 

Development

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive and goal-oriented annual fund, with goals established in collaboration with the Pastor, principal and foundation committee.
    1. This includes, but is not limited to: prospect identification and research, cultivation, solicitation, gift processing and acknowledgement.
    2. Plan and implement fundraising events to support annual fund goals.
    3. Establish a major gifts program, to eventually include a planned giving program.
    4. Identify corporate and foundation prospects, build a grant calendar, and submit relevant requests.
  2. Establish an alumni engagement plan.
    1. Coordinate the development of an alumni and donor database, collect news of and information about the members of the alumni for publication, and keep accurate records of the school's alumni via an electronic database.
    2. Work with alumni to coordinate milestone reunion events, alumni masses, fish fry alumni event, etc.
  3. Create office systems to support all development projects and operations.
    1. Process pledges and payments of donations and sponsorships in donor database.
    2. Track pledges, ensuring timely receipt of pledge payments, acknowledgement letters on a timely basis.
    3. Maintain up-to-date accurate donor information on all constituents in database.
    4. Input donor research, moves management information, proposals, reports and other relevant attachments into the database.
    5. Produce reports relating to historical and current giving, donor strategy.
  4. In collaboration with the event chairs, coordinate the annual parish auction, meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  5. Collaborate with Home & School volunteers to ensure effective coordination of annual fund and parent-led fundraising efforts and strategies.
  6. Effectively engage parish and school members as volunteer to maximize fundraising efforts.

 

School Marketing

  1. In collaboration with the school committee, staff and volunteers, develop and implement a school marketing strategy, including:
    1. Perform or manage vendor design, copywriting and production of corporate marketing materials including annual report, strategic plan, brochures and promotional pieces.
    2. Develop and maintain public relations and marketing plans to support strategic goals.
    3. Manage and produce consistent electronic and printed communications including newsletter, social media and website copywriting, press releases and other relevant updates. Order marketing materials such as letterhead, thank you cards, branded materials, etc.
    4. Ensure appropriate and professional brand expression, carrying it out throughout the website, print media, press releases, social media and other media.
    5. Promote school at Washington Heights and Wauwatosa community events. 

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree required with at least 3 years of experience in development.
  • Compliant with or gain compliance with Safeguarding All God’s Family.
  • Proven success in areas of individual giving and grant writing.
  • High energy, outgoing, team player, and a passion for the Parish mission.
  • Experience using social media for promotional purposes.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to efficiently manage multiple tasks, work well under deadline.
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, flexible, outgoing and open‐minded, easily able to adapt to change.
  • Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collegial, team oriented working style with a willingness to share in both strategic thinking and administrative tasks.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and precise.
  • Must be able to efficiently manage multiple tasks, work well under deadline.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

B.A. or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a comparable field with 3-5 years’ experience in a comparable position. Prefer 2-4 years’ experience working with nonprofit or religious organization. Experience in development field preferred. Experience running direct mail and annual giving required. Understanding of Catholic teachings, practices and organizational structure preferred. Valid driver's license required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 30 pounds.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Employee is required to perform extensive computer work in a school or office setting. Job duties will require employee to manage periodic evening/meeting weekends and attend parish and school events and functions. Work is performed in and out of the office setting. Extensive computer skills are required to effectively complete work. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described above are representative of the physical capabilities that must be met by an employee and the working conditions that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
