Director of Formation

  • Job Description
  • Creates, develops, and evaluates a vision of Christian formation that cares for all generations
  • Meets with Pastor 1-2 times per month to evaluate vision for Christian formation
  • Continually reviews and develops curricula across all grade levels
  • Provides support, direction and leadership to Formation Secretary, Coordinator of Child and Family Ministry and Coordinator of Youth Ministry
  • Support the parishes’ Safeguarding Coordinator to ensure full compliance of Circle of Grace curriculum and parent communication.
  • Works on intentionally deepening the faith life of 2-3 individuals, through Discipleship Quad or equivalent, to equip them to lead small groups, become catechists, lead Bible studies
  • Recruit, train, support, and supervise small group leaders and Bible study leaders
  • Collaborate with Formation Team on outreach to newlyweds, parents of newly baptized children, and new parishioners.
  • Formalize and coordinate RCIA efforts
  • Coordinate and facilitate adult faith formation opportunities at each parish location
  • Coordinate and facilitate annual parish retreat opportunities
  • Coordinate and facilitate annual Parish Lenten Mission
  • Collaborate with Formation team on parish-wide Evangelization initiatives
  • Meet weekly with Formation team to review, assess, and coordinate Formation Ministry initiates and development
  • Facilitates / Directs ongoing Fundraising efforts for Child and Youth Ministry
  • Facilitate the budgeting process for the Formation Programs.
  • Facilitate Formation Team Development
  • Directs ongoing educational and faith development of Formation Team.
  • Facilitate dynamic activities & social events for catechists and small group leaders to create good Christian relationships and support among peers
  • Provides support and mentorship to Formation Team and Volunteers
  • Promote Archdiocesan events aimed at ongoing formation and development of catechetical leaders and volunteers
  • Ongoing personal faith and professional development through
  • Participation in the Sacramental Life of the Church
  • Attend monthly Parish Staff Meetings and monthly Formation Committee meetings
  • Participation in District & Archdiocesan Parish Staff Events and Communications
  • Meets regularly with a Spiritual Director
  • Attend an annual spiritual retreat.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Lives in full sacramental union with the Catholic Church.
  • Has relevant catechist certification and/or educational training in the areas of Theology or Religious Education.
  • Understands and is faithful to Church documents relating to the ministry of catechesis.
  • Proficient knowledge of Sacred Scripture, Catholic theology and teaching methods.
  • Experience in leadership roles, guiding a team toward a common goal and vision.
  • Exhibits excellent aptitudes in interpersonal communication, collaborative ministry, and public speaking.
  • Self-motivated & professional working manner; organized and friendly.
  • Possesses necessary office and computer skills needed to perform the job efficiently.
