Director of Marriage and Family Life

Provide visionary direction for for Marriage and Family Life and its different programs.

Supervise, direct, coordinate and evaluate Marriage and Family Life Programs supporting Marriage, Family, Separated/Divorced, Bereavement, Men's/Women's Ministry, Natural Family Planning and Human Sexuality throughout the Archdiocese.

          Supervise and schedule volunteer personnel (couples and clergy) for Marriage, Family, Separated/Divorced, Bereavement, Women's Ministry, Natural Family Planning and Human Sexuality programs.

        Coordinate and provide resources and training in the areas of Marriage, Family, Separated and Divorced, Bereavement, Women's Ministry, Natural Family Planning and Human Sexuality ministries.

         Work collaboratively with other offices and agencies in providing services and programs in the areas of Marriage,   Family, Separated and Divorced, Bereavement, Men's/Women's Ministry, Natural Family Planning and Human Sexuality enrichment.

      Manage, direct and coordinate the planning and evaluation of services and programs associated with Marriage Ministry.

      Provide visionary direction to the following ministries:

         Marriage

           a.      Manage, direct and coordinate the planning and evaluation of services and programs associated with Marriage Ministry. 

           b.      Work collaboratively with other offices and agencies in providing services and programs in Marriage Ministry.

           c.      Coordinate and provide resources and trainings in the areas of Marriage Ministry and Spirituality.

           d.      Work collaboratively with the Intercultural Offices to coordinate programs.

           e.      Supervise annual Jubilee Mass.

           f.      Provide resources and referrals for individuals and couples whose marriages and relationships are struggling.

      Family

           a.    Oversee and provide administrative services for archdiocesan programs for moms, dads and families. 

           b.    Work collaboratively with other offices and agencies in providing services and programs in Family Ministry.

           c.    Coordinate and provide resources and trainings in the areas of Family Ministry and Family spirituality.

           d.    Provide the training of facilitators and other services and resources needed to assist parish family groups.

           e.    Identify, contract and evaluate consultants to assist with programs and services.

           f.    Provide resources and referrals for individuals and families as requested.

     Separated and Divorced

           a.    Work collaboratively with the New Horizons members in coordinating services provided by the New Horizons

                 Weekends.

           b.    Provide the training of facilitators and other services and resources needed to assist parish separated and divorced

                 support groups.

           c.    Identify, contract and evaluate consultants to assist with programs and services.

      Human Sexuality

           a.    Work to integrate the church’s teachings on sexuality throughout all programs related to Marriage & Family Life.

           b.    Coordinate and provide resources and training in the areas of Natural Family Planning, Theology of the Body, chastity, and other areas of sexuality ministry.

           c.   Work collaboratively with other offices (such as Diaconate Office and seminary) and agencies in providing services and

                 programs and formation in the area on Human Sexuality.

          d.  Manage, direct and coordinate the planning and evaluation of services and programs in Human Sexuality.

          e.   Work to meet the standards for diocesan Natural Family Planning certification as delineated by the United States

                Conference of Catholic Bishops.

          f.   Provide leadership and promotion of the basic Catholic church teachings and philosophy on Human Sexuality.

          g.   Coordinate archdiocesan response to pornography and sexual addiction, including referrals to appropriate sources.

    Bereavement

          a.    Oversee and provide administrative services for archdiocesan programs for the bereaved.

          b.    Offer annual/biannual Mass of Hope and Healing for those struggling with prenatal/infant/child loss.

          c.    Provide resources for women/couples who miscarry, as requested

          d.    Provide resources and referrals for bereaved individuals and families, as requested.

          e.    Work collaboratively with other offices and agencies in providing services and programs in bereavement ministry.

          f.     Provide ongoing training for bereavement ministers in the archdiocese.

          g.    Act as liaison to archdiocesan groups, parish support groups, etc.

    Men's/Women's Ministry

          a.     Act as liaison to archdiocesan groups, including MACCW, Milwaukee Catholic Mamas, Men/Women of Christ, etc.

          b.     Provide resources for men's/women's ministry groups, and Moms groups.

          c.     Identify, contract and evaluate consultants to assist with programs and services.

 Supervise, direct, and evaluate the Archdiocesan Marriage Preparation Programs.        

Provide leadership and promotion related to Marriage and Family Life throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee

Prepare and monitor budgets for Engaged, Marriage, Family, Separated and Divorced, and Human  Sexuality Ministries.   

Qualifications

Master's degree in sacramental theology and pastoral ministries required.   Minimum of 3 years practical experience in the pastoral ministry of engaged, marriage, family required.  Demonstrated knowledge of Catholic marriage process and doctrine as well as leadership and communication skills required.  Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of evangelization and discipleship.  Must be a practicing Catholic, in good standing with the Church.  Experience in program and event administration preferred.  Experience in administration and program planning in the areas of engaged, marriage, family, and human sexuality ministries is highly desirable.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable.

 

Frequent weekend and evening work is required as well as travel within the Archdiocese.  Occasional lifting of heavy objects (30-40 lbs).

This position will supervise  - Associate Director of Marriage Preparation and  NFP & Events Coordinator
