Grade 4 Teacher

Essential Job Functions:

  • Cooperates with other faculty members in consistent planning, developing, evaluating and implementing a school curriculum which adheres to:
    • The Gospel message and Roman Catholic tradition
    • The mission, philosophy, goals and objectives of the School
    • The needs of the children and current educational practices and research
    • The culture and influence of the local community and the influence of the work community
    • Archdiocesan and Waukesha Catholic policies
    • State and Federal laws
  • Employs a variety of teaching strategies, taking into account the learning needs of the children. 
  • Maintains accurate student records.
  • Is professional and confidential with student information.
  • Maintains open communication with parent and student (i.e. conferences, phone calls, notes, progress reports).
  • Documents significant interactions with parents and/or students.
  • Participates in special program preparations, such as the Christmas Concert, Open House, and Sacramental preparation.
  • Keeps campus principal informed of student progress and parent/guardian concerns.
  • Prepares Eucharistic Liturgies, Reconciliation Services, etc., as assigned.
  • Attends regular faculty; Participates in parent/student/teacher conferences.
  • Consistently plans and evaluates instruction.
  • Provides a secure, comfortable, respectful and inviting learning atmosphere which motivates and challenges students to achieve in all areas of development.
  • Responsible for the safety, supervision, and well-being of every child whenever students are on the premises.
  • Participates in special program preparation.
  • Takes an active part in curriculum planning and other school committees when needed.
  • Provides class schedule and lesson plans for substitute teachers.
  • Engages school volunteers when appropriate.
  • Is knowledgeable of the content in the:
    • Policies and Regulations Handbook of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee
    • Teacher Policy Handbook
    • Faculty Handbook
    • Family Handbook

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of constituents.
  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish, is desirable.
  • Highly organized and able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of professional, ethical and confidential behavior.
  • Understanding of the teaching of the Catholic faith and Catholic School operations.



Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a certified college or university.
  • Must be appropriately certified, or certifiable, by the WI Department of Instruction.
  • Must meet the requirements for Religious Education Certification as established by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
  • Must earn the equivalent of six (6) credits in your academic field every five (5) years or have a professional development plan verified by a professional development team.
  • Committed Christian willing to work with faculty, staff, students and parents.
