Responsibilities
• Initiate contact and/or accept appointments with students who need support or intervention to support their individual learning and behavioral needs which may involve education, emotional, and social concerns
• Provide one-on-one as well as small group counseling
• Provide tools and support to classroom teachers
• Help students toward realistic self-appraisal, goal setting and resources
• See students as individuals and acknowledge their right to acceptance as human beings
• Plan and participate in classroom guidance activities related to the areas of personal/social development, decision making, high school preparedness, and problem-solving techniques
• Make appropriate referrals to other personnel, specialists, and/or community agencies/resources
• Plan and guide a peer mediation group when needed
Qualifications
Qualifications
• A master’s degree in counseling, guidance, or psychology with an appropriate license level to guide and support students
• Experience in elementary education providing student guidance
• The qualified candidate will be committed to the values of Catholic education
• Having completed or willing to complete the Safeguarding All God's Children certification class
