K5 Teacher

The K5 Teacher will be responsible for the educational growth of all students.  The following will be expectations within the Job Description.

 

1. Community Building

  • Faith-Filled Environment:
    Create a classroom atmosphere that fosters faith, inclusivity, and respect for all students. Organize the physical classroom space to support the type of learning, ensuring it is safe and accessible for all.

  • Behavioral Management:
    Uphold Gospel values to manage student behavior in accordance with the school’s policies and guidelines

  • Classroom Routines:
    Establish and maintain effective classroom routines, rules, and procedures that promote a conducive learning environment.

  • Engage the Whole Student:
    Ensure that learning activities cater to the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual needs of students, creating opportunities for personal growth and engagement.

  • Family Communication and Partnership:
    Engage and collaborate with families to ensure student success. Regularly update families on student progress via ClassDojo, phone calls, conferences, and other necessary communication.

2. Professional Life as an Educator

  • Role Model of Gospel Values:
    Demonstrate and promote Gospel values through actions and interactions with students, staff, and families.

  • Professionalism:
    Maintain a professional demeanor in alignment with the school’s mission and the Employee Policy Handbook.

  • Reflective Practice:
    Continuously reflect on teaching practices and seek constructive feedback from administration, instructional coaches, and peers. Set personal goals for professional growth and improvement.

  • Commitment to Spiritual Growth:
    Actively participate in prayer, faith formation, and other activities that support the Catholic identity of the school.

  • Contributing to the School Community:
    Support a positive school culture by collaborating with colleagues and contributing to school-wide initiatives, events, and committees.

3. Planning & Instructional Effectiveness

  • Instructional Planning:
    Plan and implement lesson plans that align with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s curriculum standards, ensuring content is developmentally appropriate and engaging for students.

  • Best Practices for Learning:
    Use a variety of instructional strategies and learning resources to address diverse learning needs and promote academic success for all students.

  • Promote Learner Engagement:
    Create an engaging classroom environment where students actively participate in learning activities that meet their individual needs and interests.

  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
    Use both formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress. Clearly define assessment criteria, provide timely feedback, and offer opportunities for self-assessment.

4. Assessment and Evaluation

  • Assessment for Learning:
    Design and implement assessments that inform instruction, monitor student progress, and identify areas for improvement. Use assessment data to plan future lessons and differentiate instruction.

Student Self-Assessment:
Provide opportunities for students to reflect on their own learning, helping them develop the skills necessary for self-regulation and goal-setting.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
    Valid teaching certification for the state of Wisconsin (or the ability to obtain certification).
    Certification in Catholic religious education is preferred but not required.

  • Experience:
    Ideally atleast 2 years of experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably in a Catholic school setting.

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Ability to integrate Catholic teachings and values into the curriculum.

    • Skilled in classroom management and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.

    • Knowledgeable about best practices in teaching and differentiated instruction.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with families.

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
