Learning Support Coordinator

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Upholds and models the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor and attitude in alignment with the Gospel values and the school’s mission
  • Follows the guidelines and expectations set forth by the faculty handbook
  • Collaborates with administration and classroom teachers to address specific learning needs of students identified as needing support
  • Partners with teachers to implement instruction, formative assessments, and summative assessments per the needs of the children requiring additional support
  • Creates, implements, supervises, and coordinates the Education Action Plans of students within the school to include quarterly reviews of its contents with teachers and parents
  • Creates, implements, supervises, and coordinates the Student Awareness Plans of students within the school to include annual review of its contents with teachers and parents
  • Participates in data informed instructional practices to advance the learning of students
  • Keeps record of modifications and strategies employed for the purposes of measuring goals according to Education Action Plans
  • Maintains open lines of communciation with classroom teachers, fellow members of the learning support staff, administration, and parents in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Maintains communication with parents on student progress second to the classroom teacher
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Supervises students in proper use of school materials and equipment
  • Assists in the supervision of students and assumes responsibility for supervision of students when assigned by the principal to include escorting children to and from classes and recess
  • Takes responsibility for professional growth
  • Participates in a cycle of review using the Staff Effectiveness Assessment
  • Coordinates communication with individuals from the Elmbrook School District in accordance with the principal
  • Maintains strict confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the work of caring for students with special needs
  • Effectively follows all directives of the school principal
  • Performs other duties as requested



Position Specifications/ Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required
  • Be appropriately certified or certifiable for the grade levels of elementary and middle childhood by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
  • Experience as a paraprofessional or special needs educator preferred especially in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Familiarity with reading and math programs such as Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System and the Sonday System
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with staff, students, parents, parish leaders and volunteers while using a positive and collaborative work style


While this is a full time position, it is across 32 hours.
