Maintenance Supervisor

  1. Maintains the cleanliness of the building and grounds, regularly instructing and monitoring the maintenance staff in custodial tasks.
  1. In conjunction with the Business Manager, interview and hire any part time maintenance personnel. Supervise part time maintenance personnel.
  1. Through a preventative maintenance program and periodic inspections, maintains all plumbing, HVAC, electrical and refrigeration systems, lawns, parking lots, sports fields, and playground.
  1. Develop and implement a complete maintenance program for all Parish facilities including the church, school, convent, and rental property.
  1. Expected to spend time on routine inspection, minor repair, as well as preventative maintenance projects and perform routine custodial tasks.
  1. Maintain preventative maintenance logs or other records as needed.
  1. Sets up facilities for parish or school events as requested. Clean up after events as needed.
  1. Maintain the safety and security systems for the facilities including the fire alarm, fire prevention systems, AED, etc.
  1. Responsible for handing in accurate time sheets for maintenance staff.
  1. In conjunction with the Business Manager, provide required information needed for budget preparation. Administer the budget adopted by the Parish Council. Review invoices and submit check requests in a timely manner.
  1. Attend monthly staff meetings, and work with the other parish staff members responding to maintenance work areas.
  1. Solicit bids from outside contractors when needed and, when necessary, recommend selection of same to Building & Grounds Committee. Supervise the outside contractors in coordination with Building & Grounds Committee. 
  1. Communicate monthly with the Building & Grounds committee chairperson, doing follow-up as necessary.
  1. Responsible for the maintenance of the parish grounds, including trash, snow and ice removal, and grass cutting.
  1. Purchase and maintain a cost-effective inventory of supplies.
  1. Perform other tasks as directed by the Business Manager. 

 

Qualifications

  1. Experienced in all phases of building and grounds maintenance.
  2. Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 75 lbs., squat, bend, and reach above the shoulders throughout the day.
  3. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  4. Experienced in supervision.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate and relate to variety of persons, i.e. staff, faculty, contractors, etc.
  6. Detail oriented with good problem solving skills.
  7. Ability to work independently.
  8. Available for occasional weekend and evening work.
  9. Requires the minimum of high school graduation plus some additional courses or training in maintenance trade courses.
  10. At least five years experience in general maintenance work. 
  11. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is also required.
