Pastoral Coordinator

 Assists in the preparation of parish sacramental celebrations through collaboration.

  • May need to organize set-up and clean-up planned activities with help.
  • Assists in the formation and preparation of individuals and families for the sacraments (RCIA).
  • Responds to parishioners seeking assistance.
  • Keep pastor aware of all parish concerns that evolve.
  • Obtain Pastor’s advice and approval for planned events, classes, or concerns.
  • Assists parish staff, volunteers and parish groups in development and formation.
  • Assists in the formation of the entire community in the understanding of the parish mission.
  • Serves as a resource to other staff and volunteers.
  • Assists the pastor in fostering a sense of community to attract new members (and get them registered).
  • Directs pastoral services for individuals suffering from illness, grief, spiritual crisis.
  • Collaborates with the pastor and other parish staff in the performance of your duties.
  • Understands the roles and workings of trustees, parish pastoral/finance councils and other committees.
  • Together with the pastoral staff, assists with pastoral planning, stewardship or needs of the parish.
  • Organize faith formation education and sacramental preparations
  • Schedule teaching volunteers and assist them in their own development and formation
  • Schedule faith formation and sacramental opportunities for children and adults
  • Plan sacramental celebrations in collaboration with the Pastor and volunteers
  • Organize and/or assist volunteers in planning parish activities and stewardship opportunities
  • Act as a resource, as needed, to volunteers working on events
  • Ensure that activities are planned from set-up through clean-up
  • Collaborate with and seek approval from pastor for activities being planned
    • Coordinate with other parish staff and volunteers as needed for scheduling and execution
  • Respond to parishioner needs
  • Seek out solutions or resources for parishioners that have concerns, including bereavement and other   

spiritual and personal welfare issues.

  • Refer concerns and needs to Pastor as needed.
  • Coordinate efforts in collaboration with Council members and other volunteers in developing plans that put forward the mission of the parish and foster a sense of community to keep existing members engaged and attract new members.
  • Develop and maintain streams of communication with Pastor, staff, volunteers and parishioners
  • Use of social media, bulletins, pulpit announcements, posters and other as appropriate


K: Knowledge

  1. A degree in an area of Religious Studies would be helpful.
  2. Parish based experience in volunteer work and community organizing.
  3. Some understanding of Catholic Social teaching, Cannon Law and Liturgical Law.
  4. Understands the roles of the Trustees, Finance and Pastoral and other Council members.
  5. Working knowledge of computer software (Microsoft suite or Google Suite) and Social Media.
  6. Must have a valid driver’s license for the State of Wisconsin.
  7. Must be a practicing Catholic.

  1. Available to work a full-time flexible schedule including some weekend liturgies and special events.
  2. Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize tasks and draw parishioners into various roles.
  3. Assist the Pastor, keep him informed and maintain confidentiality when necessary.
