The Thrift Shop Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the St. Jude the Apostle Thrift Shop, including volunteer supervision; customer care; financial oversight and cash handling procedures; attaining sales goals and revenues; setting standards for loss prevention; team building; donation processing; and visual merchandising, under the direction of the Director of Administrative Services and the Pastor or Administrator of the parish.
- Recruit, train, coach and otherwise manage volunteers to assist with the Thrift Shop work. Also, ensures that all volunteers are current with their Safe Environment certification in coordination with the D.A.S.
- Follow procedures for money handling in coordination with the D.A.S.
- Maintain the budget of the store with the help of the D.A.S. so that the financial goals of that fiscal year are met. Report sales/profit each month.
- Maintain communication with the parish D.A.S. and maintenance team as needed to have the necessary resources to run the store and to report major building needs.
- Develop and maintain a process for receiving donations (sorting, pricing and merchandising).
- Rotate items in the store to meet the needs of particular seasons.
- Plan special sales and develop marketing plans to promote the shop while meeting the needs of low income and at need people.
- Ensure everyday cleaning and maintenance of the store, storage areas and entrances is completed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Retail experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Willingness to work with others in a kind, caring, collaborative, and efficient manner.
- Excellent organizational, problem solving, and trouble shooting skills.
- Ability to take direction and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to work Saturdays.
- Successful completion of Safeguarding God’s Children class, background check, and criminal background check.
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
