Archbishop Listecki: Cardinal Egan was "Servant, Friend"
Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki expresses his condolences on the passing of Cardinal Edward M. Egan.
“I wish to extend my sympathies to Cardinal Timothy Dolan and the people of the Archdiocese of New York on the death of Edward Cardinal Egan,” Archbishop Listecki shared. “I knew Cardinal Egan as a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He manifested a willingness to serve in any capacity Christ and the Church using his strong intellect to meet the needs expressed by the Christian faithful. As a bishop, he used his administrative skills to bring stability during difficult times and, as Archbishop of New York, he was the spiritual voice of a faith-filled leader in the face of 9/11."
“The Church has lost an exemplary Cardinal, the Archdiocese of New York a dedicated servant and I have lost a friend. May God receive his soul into the kingdom,” he added.
