In-person session is required of all employees and volunteers in contact with minors

Required of employees and volunteers who may respond to injuries or illness, including educational administrators, coaches, catechists, assistants.

Required of coaches. Recommended for directors of religious education and youth ministry.  Student-athletes and their parents receive informational materials.

Coaches and Administrators

Coaches shall complete training dealing with concussion, its signs, symptoms and management, prior to working with athletes.  There are options for free, online training:

Option 3: Concussion in Sports - National Federation of State High School Associations

Parents and Student/Athletes

Student/athletes and their parents receive an educational fact sheet regarding the signs and symptoms of concussion, and sign a statement in which the student/athlete accepts responsibility for reporting personal injuries, including symptoms of concussion.

Catholic Coaching Courses – Human Kinetics Coach Education Center
Courses endorsed by the National Catholic Youth Organization Sports are available for a reasonable fee. 
Catholic Coaching Essentials is the basic sport-neutral course on coaching principles, first aid, and team management. It highlights the coach's role as youth minister, who uses sports to teach Gospel values, instill Christian character, and build community.  Other sport-specific courses are also listed.
