Position Summary:

The Spanish Teacher for grades 1-8 is responsible for providing high-quality Spanish instruction that is engaging, rigorous, and aligned to the standards of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, the State of Wisconsin, and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).  The teacher designs lessons that meet the needs of a range of learners and uses data, assessment, and differentiated instruction to support student growth. 

 

This position also includes support of a middle school homeroom.  The ideal candidate is a strong classroom leader who holds high expectations for students, builds positive relationships with families, and collaborates effectively with colleagues as part of a team. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the mission of Nativity Jesuit Academy as a Christian servant leader.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Spanish instruction for students in grades 1-8.
  • Differentiate instruction to support and challenge all learners.
  • Create a classroom culture of high expectations, accountability, and student engagement.
  • Use assessment regularly to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Maintain accurate student records and complete grading, report cards, and progress updates in a timely manner; analyze student results with staff, parents, and students as needed.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and communicate regularly with families.
  • Support a middle school homeroom and contribute positively to middle school team structures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure strong instruction and alignment across grade levels.
  • Support schoolwide culture, student supervision, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Required to participate in all professional development and spiritual formation sessions, including but not limited to August Orientation, a fall retreat, Sustaining the Mission, two full days of PD during the school year, and two days in June after classes end.
  • Required to participate in various school events, including but not limited to Back to School Night, Open Houses, Retreat, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Scholarship Dinner, Professional Development Days, and Graduation.

Position Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Appropriate Wisconsin DPI teaching license, or ability to obtain/transfer licensure
  • Spanish fluency
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to working with students and families in an urban Catholic school setting

 

Preferred:

  • Previous teaching experience, ideally three or more years
  • Experience teaching Spanish or world language instruction across multiple grade levels
  • Catholic or willingness to support the Catholic and Jesuit mission of the school
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and data-driven teaching practices
