Lumen Christi Catholic School, a high performing exemplary suburban school, is seeking applications for a full time 5-year old (5K Teacher) for the 2026-2027 school year. JOB PURPOSE To create a flexible kindergarten program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for participation in the total school program, according to each student’s ability to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Provide learning experiences in language arts, reading, social studies, mathematics, science, social studies, and religion to students, using course of study adopted by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and other appropriate learning activities. Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of students with wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities. Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help students make a satisfactory transition to school. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with the natural informal atmosphere of a kindergarten. Enhance content instruction with a thorough understanding of Archdiocese and State content standards. Collects data on individual student achievement and is accountable for each child’s learning. Review and apply individualized education programs, individual literacy plans, or advance learning plans. Integrate literacy into content area instruction. Knowledgeable about classroom practice in order to successfully facilitate the learning environment, manage time, communications, and record keeping procedures that will support and enhance student learning. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program. Communicates with students, families, and colleagues concerning student academic and behavioral progress. Employs a wide range of teaching techniques to match the intellectual, emotional, and social level of each student, and chooses alternative teaching strategies and materials to achieve different curricular purposes. Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers. Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records. Knowledgeable about student electronic database and grading software. Skilled in technology and is knowledgeable about using technology to support instruction and enhance student learning in a standards-based classroom. Upholds all policies, rules and regulations, standards, and expectations that may be established by the School Council, Archdiocese, state and federal authorities, and immediate supervisor. Maintains records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations in a timely and confidential manner. Attends staff meetings, serves on committees, and attends workshops or in-service training activities. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree Valid Wisconsin Teaching License Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work cooperatively with parents, students, and staff Organizational and communication skills Possess basic computer and technology skills Working knowledge of the subject matter assigned, classroom management, best practices and strategies, students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
