Position Summary

The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in the administration and instructional leadership of a K3–8 Catholic school. This role helps ensure a safe, academically excellent, and faith-centered learning environment rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church. The Assistant Principal serves as a missionary disciple in an educational leadership role, fostering the integral formation — spiritual, intellectual, moral, and social — of students, staff, and the broader school community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Catholic Identity & Faith Leadership

  • Actively support and advance the Catholic mission and identity of the school in all aspects of school life.
  • Model a vibrant, authentic Catholic faith and encourage the same in students and staff.
  • Partner with the Principal and Pastor to ensure that Catholic Social Teaching, liturgical life, and sacramental preparation are deeply integrated into the school culture.
  • Support the coordination of school Masses, prayer, retreats, service learning, and other faith formation activities.
  • Foster a culture of virtue, encouraging students and staff to grow in character rooted in the Gospel.

2. Instructional Leadership

  • Support curriculum implementation and alignment across K3–8 grade levels, ensuring fidelity to a Catholic worldview across all disciplines.
  • Coach teachers and provide constructive feedback and setting goals grounded in both pedagogical excellence and the school's Catholic mission.
  • Assist in analyzing student data to improve instruction and outcomes.
  • Help coordinate professional development aligned with school goals, including formation in Catholic education.
  • Serve as the Middle School lead across all aspects of the Middle School experience.

3. Student Support & Discipline

  • Promote a virtue-based approach to student formation and behavior, consistent with the school's Catholic identity.
  • In partnership with the Principal, implement discipline policies consistently, with an emphasis on restorative practices grounded in human dignity and fraternal charity.
  • Address student behavior issues and collaborate with parents, the primary formators, on solutions.
  • Support social-emotional learning and student well-being initiatives integrated with the school's broader vision of integral human development
  • Oversee attendance K3–8 and intervene in cases of chronic absenteeism

4. School Operations

  • Assist with daily school operations in a manner that supports the smooth running of a mission-driven school
  • Help develop and manage schedules, including staff and student timetables
  • Support emergency procedures and school safety planning

5. Staff Support & Supervision

  • Assist in supervising and evaluating teaching and support staff with attention to both professional competency and Catholic mission alignment
  • Serve as a resource for teachers on classroom management, instruction, and faith integration and also, help onboard and mentor new staff, including formation in the school's Catholic educational philosophy
  • Promote a collaborative, joyful, and mission-driven staff culture rooted in shared faith

6. Administrative Duties

  • Assist with reports, grants, and Title allocations
  • Act as Principal in their absence 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education with 5–8 years of classroom teaching experience
  • Wisconsin teaching license
  • Master's degree or graduate studies in Educational Leadership
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing, with a demonstrated commitment to leading in full fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
  • A proven track record of meeting the needs of diverse learners through collaboration and authentic differentiated instructional practices
  • Experience in elementary and/or middle school settings
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Familiarity with Catholic educational documents and tradition preferred
