Associate Superintendent of Schools
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee Office for Schools has an opportunity for an Associate Superintendent to join our Office for Schools Department. The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in Catholic schools and a master’s degree in administration, education, or curriculum development.
The Associate Superintendent assists the Superintendent in advancing the mission of Catholic Education, providing leadership and service to parishes and schools, especially in mission and Catholic identity, governance and leadership, academic excellence, and operational vitality. This position provides consultation and support for school leadership, leads professional development for administrators and schools, and provides leadership for curriculum, instruction and assessment programs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison for assigned deaneries and mentor/coach to new principals
- Support schools in successfully completing the accreditation process
- Assist parents in resolving issues with school personnel, parish leadership, or other constituents
- Serve on all committee/task force groups as they arise related to school planning/consolidation
- Serve as a liaison to archdiocesan high schools as assigned and attend board and related meetings
- Attend meetings of high school presidents, principals, assistant principals, and other staff as needed
- Provide support and professional development for school leaders as they align and implement to the national standards and benchmarks for effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools
- Plan and facilitate professional development for administrators and teachers
- Create an oversee task force groups to support initiatives
- Support pastors in their supervisory role with principals
- Core office functions could include Accreditation, Curriculum, instruction and assessment, School policy, school safety, educational technology, professional development for new leaders, Catholic identity, or other core functions as determined by the Superintendent
- Oversee all core office function programming and communication to schools
- Collaboration between Office for School staff and other Archdiocesan leaders, and school leaders for evaluation and revision of core office functions
- Serve on boards and committees aligned to core office functions
- Support and advance the mission of Catholic education through participation in committees, task forces, and planning teams that promote or strengthen the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in administration, education or curriculum development is required
- Minimum of five years of administrative experience in catholic schools required
- Diocesan experience in Southeastern Wisconsin preferred
- Practicing Catholic in good standing, with demonstrated commitment to Catholic education required
