Basilica of Saint Josaphat

Job Title: Coordinator of Outreach Ministries 

The Basilica of St. Josaphat, a ministry of the Conventual Franciscans and located on the South Side of Milwaukee, is seeking a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Coordinator of Outreach Ministries. The Coordinator of Outreach Ministries works with the Rector and other members of the Pastoral Staff in implementing the parish mission within his/her areas of responsibility. Rooted in the values of Catholic Social Teaching and Franciscan spirituality, the Coordinator of Outreach Ministries will help implement and facilitate programs to fulfill the Lord’s command to perform the Corporal Works of Mercy.


Duties and Responsibilities 

Assistance of New Initiatives 

• Help create and lead parish Social Concerns Commission to coordinate outreach and surface new opportunities for service. 

• Develop outreach service projects with parishioners, especially with young adults and religious education students. 

• Promote Catholic Social Teaching in the parish by assisting parishioners, staff and volunteers in knowing their faith through outreach and Catholic Social Thought. 

• Help develop more ecologically friendly practices throughout the Basilica campus. Assistance of Current Outreach Ministries 

• Assist the Parish food pantry through presence, support with administration, seeking volunteers and networking with other parishes and organizations for donations. 

• Assist the Parish ESL program in administration and seeking volunteers. • Assist the Cor Unum Apostolic Saturdays of Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology (three times a semester at the Basilica) by presence and serving as parish liaison. Community Outreach 

• Network with neighborhood and Archdiocesan outreach initiatives and assist in developing strategic partnerships for Basilica outreach. 

• Serve as the liaison and collaborate with civic/community services and other religious organizations on issues and programs that relate to outreach ministries.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities 

• Active participation in the life and work of the Catholic Church. 

• Familiar with Catholic Social Teaching. • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. 

• College undergraduate degree, or equivalent work experience participating in ministry formation programs, in church or the field of outreach ministry. 

• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and networking skills. 

• Team management and decision-making skills and the ability to effectively multitask and prioritize. 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Word and Excel. 

• Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks to meet weekly deadlines. 

• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with parish staff, volunteers, parishioners, and representatives of outside organizations.

• Night and weekend work is often required. Work hours will be determined in consultation with and approved by the Rector.
