Director of Facilities

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee Facilities Department has an opportunity for a Director of Facilities position. 

The Director of Facilities is responsible for oversight of the Mary Mother of the Church Pastoral Center campus and grounds, as well as other diocesan owned and managed properties, and providing consultative support to the Catholic Cemeteries. The director embraces the mission and vision of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and works in accordance with the values of the Catholic Church, supervising the building and grounds staff in the areas of physical grounds, security, safety, facilities coordination and custodial services. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide oversight of all physical plant, maintenance, and custodial activities, including building and grounds, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, general repairs, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Work with the Director of Safety and Security on activities such as parking regulations and enforcement, campus patrols, and access badges and keys.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Diocesan Events ad Special Projects for room scheduling and reservations for in-house events as well as all associated set-up requests for special events
  • Manage lease and contract negotiation, renewals, and terms.
  • Arrange and manage appropriate third-party contractor support as needed
  • Develop and maintain multiple departmental budgets and utility usage budgets including the capital expenditure budget
  • Provide coaching and direction for the Building Services staff
  • Supervise the maintenance and custodial staff, assign work and work schedules
  • Maintain updated job descriptions for personnel needs, facilitate onboarding, goal setting
  • Facilitate performance management
  • Act as a primary liaison to renters of archdiocesan managed property
  • Assist in the development of lease contracts and agreements
  • Provide consultative support regarding building ad grounds to archdiocesan schools, parishes, Catholic Cemeteries, and other locations

Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the organization structure, resources, and properties owned and managed by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, trouble shooting and diagnostic skill
  • Ability to lead and coach a team
  • Understanding and application of HVAC systems, including boilers, mechanical,
  • Electrical and plumbing systems
  • Ability to read and understand building plans
  • Comply with all city, state, and federal regulations
  • Organization and financial management skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong project management skills and contract negotiation skills
  • Ability to organize multiple projects

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's or associate degree in facility management, building maintenance, preferred
  • Professional certification and valid license of operation – HVAC, (high/low) pressure boiler preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of facilities and building maintenance experience required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Catholic in good standing preferred but not required

The position is a full-time, salaried position working in-person at the Mary Mother of the Church Pastoral Center in St. Francis. Occasional weekend and evening assignments and occasional travel throughout the archdiocese are involved. Frequent use of ladders, lifts, hand tools, power tools. Bend, twist, reach, and lift and move items up to 50lb.
