Saint Joseph Congregation is seeking a full-time Director of Maintenance to help care for the buildings and grounds that support our parish, school, and Catholic community.

We hope to have our new Director of Maintenance familiar with the basic duties of the job by January 1st of 2027.


A Variety of Work

Never Just Another Day - this position combines maintenance, campus improvement, vendor relationships, event support, and problem-solving skills. You will have the opportunity to use a broad range of skills and help maintain and develop a campus that helps support our mission.


What You'll Do:

The Director of Maintenance will:
● Oversee the maintenance and operation of parish and school buildings and
grounds
● Monitor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, security, and other building
systems
● Develop and/or continue preventative maintenance and safety programs
● Supervise maintenance staff
● Assist with facility setup and support for parish and school events
● Maintain facility records, service contracts, permits, warranties, and related
documentation
● Help ensure compliance with applicable safety and building codes
● Coordinate purchasing, invoices, and facility-related projects with parish
leadership
● Ensure building cleanliness and maintenance meets established quality standards.
● Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties as needed.
● Collaborate with our Building and Grounds committee to gather and evaluate proposals for necessary work to be performed by vendors.
● Identify, update, and maintain inventory of necessary maintenance products and replacement parts.
● Serve as an emergency contact for system failure-related issues.


What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will:
● Have experience in facilities management, building maintenance, construction, or a
related field
● Have working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, and building systems
● Be able to perform basic installation, repair, and replacement tasks e.g. light fixture replacement, faucet repair, etc.
● Have strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
● Have an ability to work effectively with employees, volunteers, contractors, and
parishioners
● Possess a commitment to supporting the Catholic mission and values of Saint Joseph’s parish
and school
● Have a valid Wisconsin driver's license
● Be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
● Have basic computer skills including word processing, email, and work ticketing systems.
● Ideally, have professional certification and/or valid license of operation in relevant areas e..g., HVAC, (high/low) pressure boiler, electrical, plumbing, or CMRT.
● Have the time management skills to effectively adjust work schedules as needed as situations arise, and focus on the primary maintenance needs of the campus and grounds.


Position: Full-Time Director of Maintenance
Preferred Hours: First-shift - essential hours are 7:30 – 3:15 on school days, with occasional evening or weekend work
Location: Wauwatosa, WI
Reports to: Pastor

Pay Scale: $55,000 – $65,000, based on experience and other factors.
