Divine Mercy Parish School is a vibrant K3 through 8th grade Catholic school located in South Milwaukee.  We are currently seeking a faith-filled, nurturing, and energetic individual to join our school staff as a full-time Early Childhood Aide.  The ideal candidate will have a love for working with young children, a collaborative spirit, and a desire to support the mission of Catholic education.

Divine Mercy Parish School seeks individuals who are passionate about helping children learn, grow, and develop of love for God and learning.  The Early Childhood Aide plays an important role in fostering a joyful, faith-filled environment where young learners can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Under the direction of the Early Childhood (K3-K5) teachers and principal, the Early Childhood Aide will support student engagement in a play-based curriculum aligned with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS).  The aide will assist with classroom instruction, student supervision, and daily classroom operations while helping to create a safe, positive, and faith-filled learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required (transcript or copy required)
  • Knowledge of WMELS (Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards) preferred
  • Experience working with young children preferred
  • Nurturing, patient, and positive demeanor
  • Collaborative spirit and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Google programs (Docs, Sheets, Classroom) preferred
  • Practicing Catholic preferred

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the instruction of students, including individual and small-group support for children who require additional assistance
  • Support student engagement in exploratory learning centers and play-based activities
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing developmentally appropriate, standards-based instruction
  • Assist the teacher in assessing student progress and achievement
  • Assist students with self-care skills, transitions, organization, and materials management
  • Create and maintain a positive classroom culture that is conductive to learning and growth
  • Supervise children ages 3 years old through eighth grade during lunch, recess, playground, and other assigned times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or principal
