St. John XXIII Catholic School is seeking a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic educator to join our team as a full-time Elementary Physical Education Teacher & Activities Director. The ideal candidate demonstrates a professional demeanor and attitude aligned with Gospel values and our school mission. This individual will inspire students to develop healthy habits, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and school spirit while creating engaging opportunities for student involvement both during and beyond the school day.
This position includes teaching Physical Education to students in Pre-3 through 8th grade while also coordinating school activities, athletics, and extracurricular opportunities that enrich student life and strengthen our school community. The candidate will effectively plan instruction and student experiences that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all learners as part of the curriculum and mission of the Office of Schools within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate Physical Education lessons for students in Pre-3 through 8th grade
- Foster student growth in physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, healthy habits, and positive behavior
- Create a learning environment that is safe, engaging, and supportive of all learners
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities while taking reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Coordinate and oversee school athletic programs, including scheduling games, practices, transportation, officials, and communication with coaches and families
- Plan and organize school activities, student events, and extracurricular opportunities that promote school spirit, leadership, and student engagement
- Recruit, support, and communicate with coaches, volunteers, and activity leaders
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress, athletics, and school activities
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support a positive school culture and student experience
- Maintain athletic and activities budgets, schedules, equipment, and records
- Ensure all athletics and activities follow school, diocesan, and league policies and safety expectations
Qualifications:
- Current State of Wisconsin teaching license (or meet all requirements for a plan of study to obtain licensure)
- Experience teaching Physical Education and/or coordinating youth athletics, activities, or school programs preferred
- Working knowledge of Google Suite and ability to integrate technology
- Knowledge of Standards-Based Grading principles and practices
- Believes all students can learn and thrive at high levels
- Models Catholic spirituality, attitudes, and behaviors; practicing Catholic preferred
- Professional working attitude and collaborative approach
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Passionate, energetic, and dynamic team player committed to student growth and school culture
