Christ King Parish School is seeking a dynamic, creative, and faith-filled Music and Performance Teacher to serve students in grades K3 through 8th.

Position Overview

The K3–8 Music & Performance Teacher provides comprehensive music instruction across grade levels and leads performance opportunities that enrich the life of the school community. The ideal candidate understands child development across a wide age span and fosters both foundational music literacy and confident performance skills.

This educator plays a visible role in cultivating school spirit, supporting liturgical music when appropriate, and coordinating seasonal performances and programs.

Essential Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

• Design and implement engaging, standards-based music instruction for grades K3–8
• Teach foundational music literacy, rhythm, vocal technique, and performance skills
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum aligned vertically across grade levels
• Incorporate movement, instruments, and creative expression into instruction
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
• Utilize technology and creative tools to enhance music education

Performance & School Community

• Plan and direct school performances, concerts, and seasonal programs
• Prepare students for liturgical music opportunities and prayer services as appropriate
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to integrate music into school events
• Foster student confidence, stage presence, and teamwork

Classroom Culture

• Establish clear expectations and routines across multiple grade levels
• Create an engaging, respectful, and energetic learning environment
• Encourage creativity, discipline, and joy in performance

Catholic Identity

• Support and deepen the school’s Catholic culture
• Model Christian virtues and promote reverence in liturgical settings
• Help students recognize music as a gift that glorifies God and serves others

Collaboration & Professionalism

• Work collaboratively with faculty and staff
• Communicate clearly and professionally with students and parents
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development
• Demonstrate professionalism consistent with Christ King faculty values

Qualifications

The candidate must:

• Possess strong instructional and classroom management skills across developmental stages
• Demonstrate proficiency in vocal music instruction (instrumental skills a plus)
• Understand standards-based instruction and curriculum alignment
• Show creativity and organizational skill in coordinating performances
• Communicate effectively and collaborate robustly with colleagues
• Reflect professionalism and commitment to Catholic education

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field from an accredited institution preferred.
• Valid teaching license or Archdiocesan equivalent
  (12 semester hours of credit in teacher education as part of, or in addition to, the degree)
• Compliance with all Archdiocesan child protection training and procedures

Compensation & Employment Details

• Position: 0.7 Full-Time Equivalent
• Type: Annual salary (prorated according to FTE)
• Supervisor: Principal
• Location: Christ King Parish School, Wauwatosa
• Employment Status: As designated in letter of employment or addendum
