Long-Term Substitute Teacher – First Grade

St. Mary Parish School | Menomonee Falls, WI

Late January – Early May 2027 | Approximately 12 Weeks

St. Mary Parish School is looking for a caring, confident, and enthusiastic educator to lead our first-grade classroom during a maternity leave!

Our ideal candidate understands the importance of strong foundational skills, engaging instruction, and positive classroom relationships. We are looking for someone who can step into an established classroom, maintain high expectations, and help our youngest learners continue to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Rooted in our mission—to create Catholic leaders through academic excellence, supporting diverse learners, and seeing Jesus in every person—we provide an education that nurtures the whole child: spiritually, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience teaching or working with early elementary students
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills
  • Understanding of modern literacy and mathematics instruction
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
  • Confidence in planning lessons, assessing student progress, and communicating with families
  • A collaborative spirit and commitment to Catholic education

Curriculum Experience

Our first-grade students use Bridges in Mathematics and Collaborative Classroom's Being a Reader and Being a Writer literacy programs.

Experience with these programs is a plus, but not required! We welcome educators who bring strong instructional knowledge and are eager to learn our curriculum.

Requirements

  • Appropriate Wisconsin DPI licensure or eligibility for the assignment
  • Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safeguarding training and background check must be completed before beginning work
  • Availability for the full 12-week assignment

This is a wonderful opportunity to become part of a welcoming school community while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners!

Interested in joining us? Please send resume to Annemarie Wood, principal, at [email protected] or Contact St. Mary Parish School at 262-251-1050 to learn more.
