St. Andrew Parish School is a faith-centered Catholic elementary school, fully accredited, serving Preschool through 8th grade students. We are located in Delavan, with an enrollment of 150+ students. We enhance each child's spiritual, academic, and social development in partnership with the Church, our parents, and our community, all based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. St. Andrew Parish School seeks an enthusiastic and friendly person to join our team as a Lunch/Recess Supervisor.

Position Summary 

The Lunch Supervisor is responsible for providing a safe, orderly, and positive environment for students during lunch periods. The supervisor ensures that students follow school expectations, demonstrate appropriate behavior, and treat others with kindness and respect while promoting the Catholic values of St. Andrew Parish School.

Please note this position reports to: Mrs. Maureen Mathew, Principal, and other School Administration

Hours to be worked: Monday - Friday, 11:15 am - 12:35 pm

Job Responsibilities

1. Student Supervision and Safety 

  • Actively supervise students throughout the lunch period.
  • Maintain awareness of all students and their activities.
  • Ensure students remain in designated areas and follow safety procedures.
  • Respond promptly to accidents, injuries, or safety concerns.
  • Report incidents to the school office or administration according to school procedures. 

2. Behavior Management 

  • Consistently enforce school rules and lunchroom expectations.
  • Address inappropriate behavior promptly, calmly, and respectfully.
  • Encourage students to use appropriate table manners, indoor voices, and respectful language.
  • Help students resolve conflicts using positive behavior strategies.
  • Promote kindness, inclusion, and respect for others. 

3. Student Engagement and Support 

  • Interact with students in a friendly, approachable, and professional manner.
  • Assist younger students with opening lunch containers or other age-appropriate needs.
  • Encourage students to eat their lunches and use their time appropriately.
  • Support students in developing independence, responsibility, and positive social skills. 

4. Lunchroom Organization and Cleanliness 

  • Assist with orderly student arrival, seating, and dismissal.
  • Ensure students follow established lunch schedules and routines.
  • Monitor appropriate food handling and cleanliness.
  • Encourage students to clean up after themselves, dispose of trash properly, and leave tables and surrounding areas tidy.
  • Help maintain an organized and welcoming lunchroom environment.
  • Ensure smooth and timely transitions to recess or classrooms. 

5. Communication and Teamwork 

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, office staff, administration, and fellow supervisors.
  • Promptly report significant behavioral concerns, injuries, or recurring issues.
  • Follow established procedures for documenting and communicating student incidents.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and disciplinary matters. 

6. Professionalism and Reliability 

  • Arrive on time and remain actively engaged throughout assigned duties.
  • Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain a calm, patient, and professional demeanor.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating Christian values through words and actions.
  • Work cooperatively with school staff to ensure consistent expectations for students.

Qualifications 

  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage groups of students in a positive, consistent manner.
  • Dependable, patient, attentive, and able to respond appropriately to student needs.
  • Willingness to support the mission and Catholic identity of St. Andrew Parish School.
  • Ability to complete required school and Archdiocesan safe environment training and background checks.

General Expectations 

The Lunch Supervisor is expected to be actively supervising students at all times, rather than remaining seated or engaging in personal conversations or phone use. Student safety, appropriate behavior, and a positive lunchroom environment are the highest priorities. 

Above all, the Lunch Supervisor helps create an environment where students feel safe, respected, and cared for while learning to demonstrate responsibility, kindness, and good citizenship.
