Professional
The primary function of this position is to provide secretarial and clerical support for parish office operations.
Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
- Answers and direct calls in a multi-line phone system, records clear and accurate messages, handles routine questions about policies and greets visitors
- Distributes mail and other related material, maintains filing system, monitors office supplies
- Maintains records for the parish office (e.g. recording of marriages, baptisms, funerals new parishioner registrations
- Prepares the weekly parish bulletin
- Prepares regular and bulk mailings
- Program Key cards/key fobs
Skills & Required Knowledge (not limited to the following):
- Proficient knowledge of and skill in using computers and word processing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Possess strong interpersonal skills to relate to a variety of people
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision
- Possess good problem solving skills and attention to details
- Ability to multi-task
- Experience with Facebook and website updating a plus.
- Proficient in English and Spanish languages
Education, Training and/or Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Three years in general office setting working with public, desired.
Working Environment
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job
- Exposed to normal office environment
- Must be able to sit at desk or keyboard for extended periods of time
- Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday
- Must lift up to 25 lbs. at times
