Pastoral Care Minister - Holy Angels Catholic Church

You use your skills in planning and scheduling and the training and development of volunteers to bring continuity and structure to the mission.

Job Summary:

As Pastoral Care Minister you will collaborate with the Pastor to develop, coordinate, and implement the pastoral care program in collaboration with other local parishes.

Core responsibilities:

Managing the sacramental ministries and care provided to parishioners who are home-bound or reside in long term care facilities.

  • Personal visits to provide comfort and sacramental care.
  • Develop and direct a team of volunteers to provide outreach to people in need of pastoral care.
  • Document and track visits, events, and rites performed.
  • Planning and coordination with staff, pastoral team, and other local parishes.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Parish based ministry experience preferred.
  • Working and theoretical knowledge of Catholic sacramental theology including current church teachings and issues related to: RCIA, Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing, and Funeral Rites.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of theology that can be translated into practical pastoral and liturgical situations.
  • Working knowledge in MS Office products.
  • Must complete Safe Environment Certification through the Archdiocese and have a valid driver’s license for the State of Wisconsin.

Skills

  • Professional working attitude and collaborative approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Conflict resolution and mediation experience preferred.
  • Skill and experience in ministry leadership, counseling, and public speaking required.

Abilities

  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Ability to apply and publicly share application of the Scriptures and Catechism of the Catholic Church.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and build bridges in relationships..
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Active participant in the work of the Catholic Church and is able to partake in the full sacramental life of the Church.
