Come work for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as an Archive Intern!
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is looking for an in-person Archival Intern for the Fall Semester. The intern will work closely with the archivists in a variety of archival projects. Some of the projects may include:
- Process several collections of various size according to current archival standards and create finding aids for each collection
- Assist with research and respond to reference requests
- Assist with the archive’s ongoing digitization project by digitizing select photographs and preparing metadata workbooks
- Write 2-4 Throwback Thursday posts for the Archdiocese’s Facebook page
- Assist with the supervision of the archive’s reading room as needed
- Assist with other archival projects or duties as needed
Hours: 150 hours to be completed between September-December 2025. The archive is open Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, and the schedule will be worked out in advance with the archivists within those hours.
Pay: $16/hour for 150 hours
Location: 3501 S. Lake Dr., St. Francis, WI (Mary, Mother of the Church Pastoral Center)
Requirements:
- Intern should be enrolled in a graduate-level program related to Archives
- Preference will be given to those students who have already familiar with the basic concepts of records processing either through previous experience or coursework
- Must have a basic knowledge of archival theory, principles, and methods
- Must possess excellent research skills
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks effectively
- Must complete a 3-hour Safe Environment course and pass a criminal background check prior to start date per Archdiocesan policy
- Some knowledge of controlled vocabularies is helpful
- To obtain school credit the intern is responsible for making arrangements with their program in advance
