Our grade school is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and mission-driven Principal to build and safeguard an educational culture ordered to truth, goodness, and beauty and faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
About the Role
The principal is the chief administrator of the school and serves as a collaborative leader with the Pastor, faculty, parents, parish staff, and school board, ensuring that all aspects of academic life, faculty formation, governance, and school culture are ordered to the mission of Catholic education. This is a non-teaching, year-round position, allowing the principal to focus fully on leadership, vision, and community building.

What You’ll Do
You will:
- Promote an integrated vision of faith and reason consistent with the Catholic intellectual tradition
- Provide intellectual leadership for the school’s curriculum. Ensure that instruction fosters wonder, contemplation, and a love of truth, along with a mastery of foundational skills ordered toward wisdom and integration across disciplines
- Uphold Catholic instructional pedagogy, including discussion, narration, memorization, and Socratic inquiry
- Collaborate closely with the Pastor to form the intellectual, sacramental, and spiritual life of students
- Partner with parents as the primary educators of their children
- Collaborate with the school advisory committee, home & school committee, and Archdiocese Office for Schools
- Hire, mentor, and evaluate faculty according to their commitment to Catholic education
- Conduct comprehensive data analysis to measure student, faculty, and school performance and communicate it clearly and understandably to all stakeholders.
- Lead a dedicated faculty and staff toward excellence and shared pursuit of wisdom
- Foster open and transparent communication with families and the parish
- Oversee student life, safety, and well-being, ensuring discipline serves formation in virtue
- Manage school operations, budget, enrollment, and facilities in partnership with parish leadership and in alignment with educational priorities
- Cultivate opportunities for St. Kilian School to offer inclusive education seeking all available resources to respond to students’ special needs.
- Serve as the public face of the school’s mission
- Foster strong relationships with parents, alumni, and benefactors
- Champion a school culture that is deeply Catholic, joyful, welcoming, organized, and academically excellent
Who We’re Looking For

- Is an experienced, organized leader who can manage people, programs, and priorities.
- Inspires and motivates teachers and staff toward professional growth and holiness.
- Communicates clearly, compassionately, and confidently.
- Understands the unique mission of Catholic education as a custodianship of tradition that forms students to know reality as a gift of God, to love God above all things, and to live virtuously in the world.
- Is comfortable balancing pastoral sensitivity with administrative responsibility.
Qualifications
- Actively practicing Catholic
- Meet one of the following conditions:
- Hold a state principal or superintendent license
- Hold a master’s degree and have completed at least 18 graduate credits in educational leadership from an accredited institution
- Have an approved plan of study to fulfill one of these conditions (to be completed within 3 years of starting)
- Ability to administer all programs and services related to school operations, including Wisconsin School Choice
- Proven leadership in personnel supervision and development
Reporting & Support
- Reports directly to the Pastor
- Annual performance evaluation conducted by the Pastor or designee
- Ongoing support through the Archdiocesan Office for Schools
Professional Growth
- Attendance at Archdiocesan meetings, workshops, and conferences
- Active participation in professional and educational organizations
- Encouragement for continued leadership development
Compensation & Benefits
