About Nativity Jesuit Academy:
Nativity Jesuit Academy (NJA) is a K4-8 co-ed Catholic, Jesuit, urban school serving young men and women in Milwaukee, WI. We prepare our students, in partnership with their families, for Christian leadership and service in high school, college, and life.

Position Summary:
The Science Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, rigorous, and standards-based science instruction for students in grades 4–8. The teacher creates a classroom environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, inquiry, and a love of scientific discovery while supporting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of every student.
This position also includes serving as a middle school homeroom teacher, supporting students' academic progress, character development, and daily school experience. The ideal candidate is a strong classroom leader who holds high expectations for students, builds positive relationships with families, and collaborates effectively with colleagues as part of a team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction for students in grades 4–8.
- Develop inquiry-based, hands-on learning experiences that promote scientific thinking and problem-solving.
- Prepare lesson plans that align with school curriculum and state standards.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress with families.
- Partner with families during the school day and in other school events to build a working relationship with each family.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and academic excellence.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional leaders, and support staff to improve student outcomes.
- Supervise students during assigned duties, including lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, or other supervisory responsibilities.
- Integrate technology and STEM practices to enhance student learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
- Required to participate in all professional development and spiritual formation sessions, including but not limited to August Orientation, a fall retreat, Sustaining the Mission, two full days of PD during the school year, and two days in June after classes end.
- Required to participate in various school events, including but not limited to Back to School Night, Open Houses, Retreat, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Scholarship Dinner, Professional Development Days, and Graduation.

- Willingness to grow professionally and participate in ongoing formation.
Position Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
- Appropriate Wisconsin DPI teaching license, or ability to obtain/transfer licensure.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to academic excellence and student-centered instruction.
- Commitment to working with students and families in an urban Catholic school setting.
Preferred:
- Spanish speaking
- Previous teaching experience, ideally three or more years
- Catholic or willingness to support the Catholic and Jesuit mission of the school
- Experience with differentiated instruction and data-driven teaching practices
