The Filipino community invites you to a devotional, nine-day series of Masses in preparation for Christmas. For Filipino Catholics, Advent is a time of gathering for friends, family and prayer in celebration of the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the history of 500 years of Christianity in the Philipines, fiestas honoring the saints, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Lord Jesus have grown and developed out of popular piety and devotion. Simbang Gabi is one of the longest and most popular of these pious traditions. - from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles
