Who are they?


The Maryknolls are made up of three groups- Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, Sisters, and the Lay Missioners. All three groups are focused on mission work and building communities of faith outside of the United States, primarily in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Mexico.


What resources do the Maryknolls offer?

 

Maryknoll Magazine

  • Subscription: This is a bimonthly magazine available in both English and Spanish that highlights the work of the Maryknolls. As of September 2010, it is also available to read online.
  • Classroom Program: Offered for students in grades K-12, the aim of the program is to introduce children to Catholic Social Teaching through lesson plans based on certain articles in each issue of Maryknoll Magazine. There are also a variety of other activities available to help students learn about global issues affecting our world today.

DVDs/Videos

There are a variety of DVDs and Videos available that focus on cultural education, global concerns and individuals who have worked for justice. Some examples include stories of Dorothy Day and Franz Jagerstatter; the My Americas series,which takes a deeper look into many countries in Latin America; and issue specific documentaries like Lives for Sale, a story of immigration and human trafficking.

Orbis Books

The publishing house run by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, Orbis Books has hundreds of books on a variety of topics available for purchase. You may read these books with your students, start your own book club, utilize reflections for prayer services or use them to help you with your own spiritual journey.
