Coordinator of Youth Ministry

  • Partners with the Director of Christian Formation to recruit catechists to lead youth in their Christian formation sessions.
  • Partners with the Director of Christian Formation to support, evaluate, train and communicate with catechists and other leaders. 
  • Provides leadership and presence at Christian Formation sessions and other events.
  • Develops and maintains a weekly schedule of office and program hours subject to the approval of the Director of Christian Formation. 
  • Coordinates service opportunities and retreats for students in grades 6-12.
  • Attends and coordinates all aspects of the weeklong summer Mission trip, including detailed communication with families and staff, fundraising events and financial accountability.
  • Supervises and mentors Youth Leadership and particpates in cluster activities for youth.
  • Partners with the Adult/Family Minister to create programming for Family Faith Day.
  • Coordinates and implements all aspects of the Confirmation Program, including but not limited to weekly sessions, service, correspondence and retreats.
  • Attends staff, parish, cluster and archdiocesan meetings.
  • Partners with the Christian Formation staff to reach out to young adults in the community.

Qualifications

  • Must be a practicing Catholic.
  • Understand Catholic teachings as they apply to Youth Ministry. 
  • Appropriate background in theology, religious education or related field (Bachelors' Degree preferred).
  • Prior years' experience working with any combination of middle and high school youth in a parish setting is ideal.
  • Ability to facilitate small/large groups and teach as needed.
  • Familiar with technology, social media and other forms of communication.
  • Ability to delegate tasks, manage time appropriately and meet deadlines with a minimum amount of supervision.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. 
  • Ability to honor and maintain strict confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
