Pulpit Announcement:

Again, this week we remind you to consider your gift to our Sister Parish, Holy Family, in the Dominican Republic.  In the 32 years of existence of the La Sagrada Familia Parish, the people have experienced disastrous effects of hurricanes, tropical storms and mudslides, and yet they have patiently worked together with neighbors, the priests and pastoral team to rebuild homes and discover new ways to provide for their families.   They have continued to dream of a better future. In today’s bulletin, please read the message of the current pastor regarding those dreams.

Bulletin Text (full version):

This year, La Sagrada Familia has been able to continue some very important activities, thanks to the generosity and concern of so many people in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. An average of 170 malnourished children has received 2 meals daily in the past year. We were able to distribute first aid and basic medicines through 18 rural pharmacies for a population of 30,000 persons. More than 900 children and adults have been baptized during the year. Your help has made it possible for us to train catechists and community leaders, provide workshops and transportation to all villages and towns for these meetings.

As a parish, we still have dreams for the future for which we need support. One of those dreams is for a new chapel in one of the villages. We already have a plot of land and the community is ready to contribute their part with hard manual labor. A new chapel brings about a place of worship and a sense of identity that 275 families are ready to share. We also hope to create an after school program that will provide a place for students to experience a clean well-lit area to read and study equipped with books and tutors or mentors. Educational programs have the firm potential of breaking the vicious cycle of poverty. Thank you for listening to our dreams and for whatever you can do to help us achieve them.

Fr. Esteban Redolad, Pastor

Bulletin Text (short version):

Thanks to your support La Sagrada Familia has been able to provide 2 meals daily to 170 malnourished children in the Nutrition Center. We have also been able to distribute first aid and basic medicines through 18 rural pharmacies for a population of 30,000 people. You have helped us prepare catechists and leaders to instruct more than 900 adults and children for baptism during the year.

Similar to your parishes we have dreams for the future. We’d like to build a chapel in a village with 275 families who will contribute their labor to this place of worship which also helps to give them a community identity. We’d like to provide our students with a place and equipment for after school study. Education can break the cycle of poverty. Thank you for considering our dreams and hopes for the future.

Fr. Esteban Redolad, Pastor
