Essential Job Functions:

The Physical Education Teacher at St. Gabriel Parish School is responsible for planning and implementing physical education activities, monitoring students, and evaluating student outcomes. Our Physical Education classes generally emphasize sports-related skills, movement patterns, games, and fitness activities. The Physical Education Teacher records and maintains student information and is responsible for communicating with all parties involved in the education of the student. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Cooperates with other faculty members in planning, developing, evaluating, and implementing the school curriculum.
• Employs a variety of teaching strategies, taking into account the need to differentiate instruction for the various learning needs of the children.
• Maintains open communication with parents and students (i.e., conferences, phone calls, progress reports).
• Provides a secure, comfortable, respectful, and inviting learning atmosphere that motivates and challenges students to achieve in all areas of development.
• Responsible for the safety, supervision, and well-being of every child whenever students are on the premises.
• Attends regular faculty meetings twice a month
• Participates in parent/student/teacher conferences, open house, and in-service meetings.

** This is a part-time position (.5 FTE).  Phy Ed classes are all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Friday afternoons.  Parent/teacher conferences, in-service meetings, and open house may require time on other previously scheduled days.
