Job Purpose:

To provide targeted academic, behavioral, and organizational support to students needing assistance, allowing teachers to maximize instructional and learning time in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities May Include:

• Assisting the lead teacher during whole-group instruction by monitoring student understanding and helping maintain on-task behavior.

• Working one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce content introduced by the teacher, particularly in literacy and math.

• Supporting students with executive functioning skills such as organization, time management, task initiation, and follow-through.

• Participating in classroom planning and preparation of lessons or assessments.

• Providing input to the teacher when preparing for parent/guardian meetings regarding student progress and behavior.

• Supervising students during specials (Art, Music, PE, ACES, Spanish), lunch, recess, Mass, field trips, and other school-related activities.

• Assuming leadership of the classroom when the teacher is absent.

• Supporting instructional staff with classroom preparation, grading, note-taking, and testing.

• Maintaining clear, professional communication with staff and families under the direction of the lead teacher.
