Before or After School Care Assistant

  • Assist with the supervision of children.  Ensures students are orderly and acting appropriately. 
  • Contribute to the children’s sense of self-worth as a Christian person; foster an apostolic consciousness in children and influence the spiritual development of the children 
  • Effectively perform activities assigned that meet the needs, interests and abilities of the children and are consistent with the philosophy of Holy Apostles School and Parish 
  • Create an environment that is safe, caring and welcoming to young children 
  • Directs movement of students to and from various areas of the building in a safe and organized manner.  
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the children, equipment, materials and facilities 
  • Supervise children in proper use of school materials and equipment 
  • Maintain open lines of communication with children and their parents 
  • Responds to emergency situations (injured students, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns 
  • Effectively follow all directives of the School Principal 
  • Follows any COVID or pandemic related directives from the Arch or parish/school. 
  • Provides other assistance on projects as needed.   

Qualifications

Relates well with children and parents 

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks 

Associate degree or comparable work experience preferred 

Ability to respond to children in all aspects; safety, movement, learning and interaction.

Must be at least 18 years old.

Having completed or willing to complete the Safeguarding All God's Children certification 

Working Environment 

Work both indoors and outdoors during supervision and interaction with children. 

Limited occasional evening and weekend work.  

Physical Requirements 

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear.  

The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands; reach with hands and arms.  

Able to utilize computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.  

Ability to lift 20 pounds.
