Job Summary
The School currently has an opportunity for an energetic Athletics Director. This critical role will oversee and provide leadership for Pius XI’s interscholastic athletic program in accordance with the philosophy and mission of the high school.
The Athletics Director reports to and will work closely with the President. The role will also partner with the school’s Board of Directors and senior staff including the Principal, Director of Finance, Admissions Director and Vice President of Advancement. The Athletics Director will manage and direct a small Athletic staff responsible for certain of the duties and responsibilities noted below.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as visible representative and chief spokesperson for the Pius XI interscholastic athletic program and member of the President’s leadership team
- Establish annual objectives for the Pius XI interscholastic athletic programs and develop strategies for implementation and evaluation
- Participate as needed in the hiring of new faculty and staff with coaching credentials and interest
- Attract, manage and evaluate all varsity head coaches, athletic trainers and athletic department staff on an annual basis. This includes compliance with Archdiocesan policies
- Develop, administer, and monitor the annual athletic operating budget
- Oversee and maintain positive working relationships among the school’s athletic programs and the academic administration
- Oversee and maintain positive working relations with the Woodlands Conference, Metro Classic (football only) and the WIAA
- Assess major facility, equipment, and training needs of the athletic department and work with the Board of Directors and School leadership to develop funding solutions
- Authorize and oversee access to and usage of Pius XI Field House facilities by external groups
- Keep abreast of local, state, and national issues in interscholastic athletics to ensure the use of safest and most productive environment for student-athletes
- Oversee the development, dissemination, implementation, and administration of all Pius XI Catholic High School athletic policies and procedures
- Implement and oversee a school-wide system to identify and address the concerns of athletes, parents, coaches, teacher, staff and other constituent groups in a timely and effective manner
- Develop and oversee a system for security and crowd control at all home athletic contests
- Maintain communication with Principal on all important matters related to Pius XI athletics
- Represent Pius XI at public and private events to include donor cultivation and events, educational presentations, and partner school relationships
- Participate in committees overseeing annual golf outing and the biennial Pius XI Hall of Fame event
- Direct and support the Board sanctioned Pius XI Athletic Committee
